Marshall and June Stoner

The year we were married, 1956, we purchased a fawn Great Dane from a "back yard breeder" near Macomb, Illinois. Unfortunately, there was little research involved before this $50 purchase, but who can resist a puppy?

After purchasing those first few puppies, we started to educate ourselves about the great dane. We read, attended dog shows, listened to knowledgeable handlers and owners, observed, studied the Standard, and eventually came to the conclusion of what we personally felt a Great Dane should be. Throughout this process, we considered Ray Cataldi our mentor.

Deciding to name our kennel after the creek running through our property, Lost Creek Great Danes (fawn & brindle) headed to the show ring. We continued the process of carefully breeding good animals and have been rewarded with two of our dogs receiving the GDCA Top Stud Dog Award, some GDCA Awards of Merit and finishing many to their championship. The ultimate in this adventure was achieved October 2005, when Marshall was selected by his peers to judge the GDCA Futurity at the GDCA National Specialty.

We are members of the Heart of Illinois Great Dane Club and the Great Dane Club of America.
