The story of Lazarus:

Marshall had to take Bess in to the vet's office for a c-section late one night.  One of the puppies born that night was a small, fawn male that the vet was unable to revive and therefore he was thrown in the trash.  Several hours later the kennel boy came to clean the office.  He heard something and looked in the trashcan.  He found a very live and unhappy puppy in the trash.  With that kind of beginning how could this dog have been named anything other than LAZARUS?
